According to the CDC, 11.4% of children in the United States have been diagnosed with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and 1 in 31 children have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. These diagnoses, as well as learning differences, can impact the development of a child’s executive function skills—including attention, time management, organization, planning, working memory, inhibition, flexibility, emotional control, metacognition, goal-directed persistence, and task initiation. Executive function skills are essential for achieving goals, regulating emotions, self-monitoring, reflecting, problem-solving, and developing empathy.
At BPIA, we offer executive function coaching tailored to each child’s unique needs. Following a comprehensive assessment, our team identifies strengths and challenges in executive functioning and integrates input from parents, teachers, and the child to create a highly individualized treatment plan.
Executive function coaching focuses on:
-
Setting specific, objective, and measurable short-term and long-term goals
-
Developing tools to support independence over time
-
Enhancing academic performance while reducing stress and anxiety
Through a supportive therapeutic relationship, we help children build the executive function skills they need to succeed at home, in school, and beyond.
